On Thursday December 1st I'll be at Etsy Night at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in L.A. where we'll be making gift toppers. The museum hosts monthly Etsy nights on the first Thursday, and it's a fun, casual evening hosted by different crafters. For a $5 admission you'll be given all the materials and instructions to make the gift toppers you see above, plus some cool roses made out of recycled book text, music sheets and maps that are completely addictive.
Everyone works at their own pace and it's a great way to make new friends and see the museum, which will be open. If you haven't been to CAFAM or haven't been there lately, you must go. Their exhibits are fantastic and I always leave feeling inspired. Plus, they have one of the best gift shops around, and the holidays are approaching! I'll also have both of my books for sale and I'll be happy to sign them. Reservations are recommended, and there's information on the site.
Then, on December 8th I'll be at Seed People's Market in Costa Mesa. They just started hosting Happy Hour on Thursdays, but their version features local artists, refreshments and raffles--my kind of happy hour! I'll be doing accordion books for a free make-and-take project, which make great stocking stuffers or one-of-a-kind gift--if you can bear to part with it, that is. I'll have a photo up soon.
I'll also have my books for sale there, as well as my handmade books. Seed is an incredible store--I wish we had one in L.A. It's filled with beautiful handmade gifts, and they feature local artists. Don't miss the event, it's going to be great!
